What is a Mental Health First Aider?

A Mental Health First Aider in the workplace is the go-to person for anyone who is going through any type of mental health issue.

The first aider will be available to help guide the person to the relevant help that they need. They will also have the relevant knowledge to be able to spot someone who may be developing a mental health issue. Being a Mental Health First Aider doesn’t qualify them to provide therapy to someone who may need it, but it does make them able to offer support and help make their life at work easier. It is important for the Mental Health First Aiders to encourage professional support and sign post where that can be found.

We are here to offer support

The invisible illness

Mental illness is just as important as physical illness. Therefore, being supportive of someone’s mental wellbeing is essential to a person’s recovery.

This is why we now have Mental Health First Aiders with ERIKS UK & Ireland.
